Anna Mae Glenn Starks, 80, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at her home.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with Rev. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in The Starks Family Cemetery in Sperryville, Virginia.
To some she was called Mom, Grandma, Auntie, Mae Starks, Ms. Anna, Anna Mae, and Shorty.
Mrs. Starks was born on December 25, 1937 in Washington, DC to the late Floyd and Fannie Fletcher Glenn. She departed this life on Monday, August 27, 2018 at her home in Happy Creek surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs. Starks attended school in Manassas, Virginia prior to moving to the Flint Hill, Virginia area where she became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church under the late Rev. Thomas Proctor. On June 9, 1961 Anna was united in Holy Matrimony to the late James A. Starks, Sr. The couple established their home in Happy Creek where they welcomed fourteen children, including an adopted child and a child they raised as their own.
Survivors include her nine sons, Timothy, Kenneth Sr., Ray, James Jr., Wayne Sr., Eric (Robin) and Derek Starks (Kim) all of Front Royal, Anthony Starks and Rozier Jordan both of Richmond, Virginia; five daughters, Maretta Jackson of Lynchburg, Virginia, Rosanne Cadet and Lavone Starks both of Front Royal, Casena Starks of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Lahoma Samuels of Middletown, Virginia; sister Edna Cooper of Baltimore, Maryland; 27 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; special cousin, Geneva Fletcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, friends and those special ones who called her mom and filled her heart with love.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.

sorry for yalls loss. Mama Starks was a awesome woman. She was loved by many people and many called her mama whether blood or not. She was Mama Starks mother to all. RIP
So sorry for your loss. Anna was such a sweet woman. I got to know her in 1995 when I started working at WMH. She was always so nice and friendly. Always had a smile for you. I will miss seeing her coming to therapy. RIP sweet Anna.
