Mr. David A. Schmiedeknecht, Front Royal, VA, formerly of Montague, MI, age 80, died under Hospice care on October 15, 2017.
He was born in Detroit, MI on April 9, 1937 to Elmer & Winifred Sundell Schmiedeknecht & married Marie Gill Schmiedeknecht on October 3, 1958 in Whitehall, MI. Mr. Schmiedeknecht served 8 years in the Michigan Army National Guard & was employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours Company before retiring. He was a wonderful husband, father, grand father & friend to many. He enjoyed fishing, automobiles, country music & conversation with all.
Survivors Include 3 sons, Randy Sandy Schmiedeknecht of Forest, VA, Terry Jackie Schmiedeknecht of Front Royal, VA & Mike Schmiedeknecht of Front Royal, VA; 2 grandchildren, Kristin Nathan Schmiedeknecht Toman of Strasburg, VA & Jeremy Schmiedeknecht of Front Royal, VA; 1 future great grandchild, Ethan Toman, Strasburg, VA; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents & a sister, Gweneth Schmiedeknecht Howe.
As per Mr. Schmiedeknecht’s request, a private gathering will be held for family & close friends to celebrate his life.

I had spoken with Mr. Schmiedeknecht many times, on the phone, taking care of some of his needs with the Town. He was a very sweet person and I will miss his calls. My best and condolences to his family and close friends.
