A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Flint Hill United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sara Keeling. Burial will follow in the Flint Hill Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Marcey was born May 30, 1923 in Arlington, VA son of the late Edward A. Marcey, Sr. and Eva C. Faulkner Marcey.
He proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service from the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing. He was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church, life member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 225 in Falls Church, VA and was a honorary life member of BPOE#2382 in Front Royal, VA. He was also a life member and past-president of Machinist Union Local #174, past secretary-treasurer of Machinist Union #44, and a life member of the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, Flint Hill, VA. Ed was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years Catherine Walker Marcey.
Surviving are one son George E. Marcey and wife Peggy of Amissville, VA; two daughters Ann Sutphin and Jeanette Miller of Galivants Ferry, SC ; one brother Thomas Marcey and wife Norma of Gainesville, VA; one sister June Grove of Odenton, MD; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his wife Pat Cornwell Marcey. Along with his parents and first wife, Mr. Marcey was preceded in death by his sisters Edith Alexander, Emma Long, Rooney Mayberry, and Doris Newcomb; and a brother Howard Marcey.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda Curtis and James Powell.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, VA.
