Judith Ann Huff, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother, known to all as “Judy,” went home to the Lord on April 12 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Front Royal, Virginia. Born on Parris Island, South Carolina on December 29, 1942, she is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Ward Huff; sons James David Huff of Front Royal, Virginia and Ward Andrew Huff of Washington, D.C.; sister Patricia Lynn Ferguson of Appleton, Wisconsin; granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Vice of Woodstock, Virginia; and grandsons Fletcher Ernest Huff and Cormac Ward Huff of Washington, D.C.
Judy spent her teenage years in Jacksonville, North Carolina, later moving to Charleston, South Carolina, where she graduated from Saint Andrews High School. While in Charleston, she met and married John, a member of the United States Air Force.
Judy worked as a dental technician, helping John to complete his education.. She was active in the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for two decades, cared for many children at Mother’s Day Out, and served on the Session. She was an avid gardener, golfer (scoring two holes-in-one to John’s zero), was a self-declared shell and rock “hound,” and enjoyed spending time at the beach with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Ann Garrison and Victor Trowbridge Garrison; and her brother Victor Morrow Garrison.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church in Front Royal, Virginia. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.
