Marvin Richard “Cotton” Owens, 76, of Front Royal, VA passed away as the sun rose on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Sammy Campbell. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Cotton was born June 30, 1938 in Front Royal, VA son of the late Hiram F. Owens and Alma Ree Butler Owens. He was a graduate of Warren County High School Class of 1956 and retired as manager of the Jewel Box on East Main Street in Front Royal. Cotton was a former member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge 829, Front Royal Jaycees, and the Front Royal Downtown Business Association.
Surviving are his life partner Sylvia Patton Owens; one son Rick Owens of Elkwood, VA; two granddaughtersChristan Owens of Manhattan, NY and Tara Booth of Stephens City, VA. He was preceded in death by two brothers Thomas H. Owens and Raymond F. Owens.
Pallbearers will be Doug Henry, Bryan Duncan, Jr., Monte Conner, Rick Owens, Tracy Lidard, and J.D.DeHaven.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Duncan, Bobby Tucker, Larry LeHew, Tara Booth, and Bryan Duncan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
