Mrs. LaMerle “Nannie” Williams, 94, of Chester Gap, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 7, 2017. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Center with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia with the Rev. Jim Williams and the Rev. James Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Family Cemetery, Chester Gap.
Mrs. Williams was born October 7, 1922 in Griffin, Georgia to the late James N. Bolt and Nannie Lou Betts Bolt. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William Bradley Williams and brothers, Bill and James Bolt.
She formerly worked at Newberry’s, McCroy’s and both the Huntly and Chester Gap Post Offices. She was a pianist and played by ear as well as a church choir director and pianist for Willis Chapel United Methodist Church and Chester Gap Baptist Church, playing for many weddings and funerals over the years.
Survivors include three sons, Brad Williams (Mary), Robert “Bobby” Williams (Ellen) and Jerry M. Williams; daughter Carolyn J. Leake (Thomas); eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
