Omar Dallas Shaffer,92 of Linden, Virginia passed away May 4, 2018, at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Front Royal conducted by the Rev. Dr. G. Bruce Queen. Entombment will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens in Waterlick.
Mr. Shaffer was born June 7, 1925, in St. George, WV, son of the late Luther O. and Virginia Ludwick Shaffer.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner during WWII for cargo and mail ships. Later he was a finish mill operator for the Riverton, Corp. and retired from Warren County as a compactor operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Front Royal and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 829 of Front Royal and a current member of the American Legion, Giles B. Cook Post 53 of Front Royal.
He was married to the late Beatrice A. Shaffer.
He is survived by four daughters Delsie Dickerson of W.V., Kimberly Mahoney of Front Royal, Ramona Stickley of Linden, and Vernice Austin; a son Lewis Shaffer; a sister Delsye Wheeler of Alvin, TX; a number of grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons Wayne Shaffer and Michael A. Shaffer; a brother Jerry Shaffer; and two sisters Ruth and Evelyn.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
