Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Patty was born November 13, 1935 in Weston, West Virginia to the late Elias L. Spaur and Emma Pauline Brannon Spaur. Her husband, David L. Wines and her son David Clayde Wines precede her in death.
Despite her illness, she continued to work and serve her clients and she remained active in the community until her passing. Patty owned and operated Wines Bookkeeping and Tax Services with her husband, David since 1968. She graduated from Warren County High School in 1953. She graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University) with an associate’s degree in 1955. She served on the Warren County Board of Supervisors for the Happy Creek District from 1989-1992. She was on the Board of Directors for the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority from 2001- 2017 and was the Chairperson of the EDA from 2008-2017. She served on the Warren County Social Services Board from 1989-1991. She was a past member of the Warren County Republican Committee and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was past president of the Jaycettes from 1957 to 1972. She was the former Chairperson of the Warren County March of Dimes. She served on the Front Royal-Warren County Youth Council. She was a member of the Front Royal United Methodist Church and was a past member on the Church Finance Committee. Patty was Treasurer of Front Royal Midget Football from the early 1960’s until 2014 and involved with Front Royal Little League from the early 1960s until the 1980s. She served as a volunteer for the Front Royal Cardinals Baseball team since 1984 and was a member of the board of directors from 2014 until her passing. She was a member of the Front Royal Red Hat Society (Helltown Red Hatters) from 2005 to present. In 2016, Patty received the Robert E.L. ‘Bob’ Miller Community Service Award from the Front Royal Rotary Club.
Survivors include two sons, D. Chad Wines (Ashley Burdock) of Stephens City, Virginia and D. Chris Wines (Dominique Romero) of Pasadena, California; sister, Jo Ellen Otey of King George, Virginia and two grandsons, Jimmy and Landon Burdock.
Pallbearers are: Ed Ambrose, Teddy Blackwell, Mike Kenney, Chris Lee, Steve North, Donnie Otey, Fred Rettberg, and Doug Yeabower.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Missy Henry, Sandy Lamb, Jennifer McDonald, Rhonda North, and Kathryn Pomeroy.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Maddox Funeral Home.
