Wanda Grove

Wanda Turner Grove, 75, of Front Royal, VA, died on Friday, October 6, 2017 in Winchester, VA.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Front Royal United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Terry Clark.

Mrs. Grove was born September 24, 1942 in Harrisonburg, VA daughter of the late John L. and Lillian T. Turner.

She received her Master’s Degree from James Madison University.

Mrs. Grove began her long and distinguished teaching career at Warren County High School in 1963 until her retirement in 2001.There she became head of the English department for many years and was known for engaging her students in the classroom. She will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring teacher and touched the lives of so many of her students.

Mrs. Grove also tutored English to foreign visitors. She was a former member of the Front Royal Oratorio Society, Warren County Retired Teachers Association, Front Royal United Methodist Church, Front Royal Planning Commission and a current member of Reliance United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years Thomas W. “Tinker” Grove of Front Royal; two brothers J. Edwin Turner and wife Sue of Ashland, VA and Stanley N. Turner and wife Betty Lou of Harrisonburg, VA; sisters in law Margaret and Kenneth Rowland , Barbara and David Bowers and Eleanor and Kent Coons all of Front Royal; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Amy Henritze; and a nephew Jon Turner.
