William “Bill” M. Lillard Jr., 69, of Oakton, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at his home.
Loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose family always came first. He was loyal, honest, kind, smart, passionate, funny, silly, protective, strong, positive and any other word that would describe a Great Man! He never met anyone he couldn’t talk to like a friend. He was a true people person!
From an early age his passion for music led him to become a guitarist/bassist and was in several bands throughout the years. Cars were also a huge part of his life. Having owned a few Mustangs and a Camaro in the past, it didn’t matter if it was a Ford or a Chevy, it only mattered if he liked it. In recent years he also enjoyed the more simple things in life. Being outside working in the yard and especially mowing grass, which became something he really loved!
He was also owner of a family business that was established in 1947 by his father. He considered his employees an extension of his family. His knowledge of the trade and personality were key to his success with customers.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia with Pastor Gary Burrows officiating. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lillard was born on November 8, 1949 in Arlington, Virginia to the late William M. and Lucille Blair Lillard. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rita “Patty” Dotson.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sandra “Sandy” K. Lillard; three sons, William M. Lillard III of Front Royal, Sean M. Lillard of Fairfax, Virginia and Jason M. Lillard of Oakton; step brother, David Kane of Fairfax; five grandchildren, Tristan, Justin, Ryan, Skyler and Trinity and four nephews, William, Mark, David and Bruce.
