Floyd Bradd, Jr., age 93, devoted and loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November, 11, 2015 in Lynn Care Nursing in Front Royal, VA.
Floyd was born to Floyd and Helen Bradd in Hampton, Virginia. He and his sister, Elva (Bloxom – dec.), grew up in Hampton where he graduated from Hampton High School.
Floyd served in World War II as a medic in the European theater and received a commendation for delivering medical aid to wounded soldiers under fire. After the war, he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and received a degree in architecture.
Floyd was a master mason and a member of the Scottish Rite and the Trail Cedars of Lebanon. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America and the Northern Virginia Swimming League as a supportive father of his children.
He is predeceased by wife, Mable Wingo Bradd and his grandson, Gny. Sgt. Ryan Jeschke USMC (son of his daughter, Carolyn Jeschke).
He had been a resident of Lynn Care Center since the Fall of 2013. Prior to Front Royal, he and his wife lived in Hayes, Virginia. Floyd and his wife were married 63 years before her death in 2014. They were members of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church of Bena, Virginia.
Floyd and Mable Bradd had two children: son, Floyd Bradd, III, MD (“Tripp”) married to Jan Bradd of Front Royal, Virginia; his daughter, Carolyn Jeschke, married to Tom Jeschke, of Mineral, Virginia.
Floyd had 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He had 4 grandchildren by Tripp and Jan – Kristin Waltz (married to Chris Waltz – with her 3 children – Keagan Ball, Abbigail Ball and Vincent Waltz), Justin (married to Whitney Crawford Bradd with their 2 daughters, Mary Cadence and Emma Grace), Erika (married to Danie Kimmel with their son, Abel). Also, a son, Aaron Bradd of Arlington, VA. Floyd had 3 grandchildren by Carolyn and Tom Jeschke – Gny. Sgt. Ryan Jeschke (and his wife, Shiela Jeschke), Kara Jeschke, Jean Jeschke Siler (married to Andy Siler and their 3 children – Jalya, Gabriel and Morgan Jean).
Relatives and friends are invited to Riverton United Methodist Church, E. Strasburg Road, Front Royal, VA on November 21, 2015, Saturday, at 11 AM. There will be a brief viewing time prior to the service. A brief Masonic Rite burial service with a Celebration of Life Service will follow. From 12 – 2 PM, a reception will then follow in the church fellowship hall.
A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23606 at 9:30 AM, Saturday, November 28, 2015.
