Ernestine S. Woodbridge

Ernestine S. Woodbridge, 88, of Strasburg, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center.

A Home Going service will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 12:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond H. Morton, Jr. of Mount Olive Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia.

Mrs. Woodbridge was born August 22, 1935 in Benham, Kentucky, daughter of the late Turner and Myrtle Welch Sykes.

Mrs. Woodbridge was a tremendous cook and blessed everyone with her cooking, including those at the daycare where she worked. She was a member of Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Triangle and under watch care of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Middletown.

She was married to the late Eugene Curtis Woodbridge, Sr., U.S. Army retired.

Surviving are four sons, Eugene Curtis Woodbridge, Jr. of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, James Alphonso Woodbridge, U.S. Army retired, of Woodbridge, Lee Andre Woodbridge, Sr. of McDowell, Georgia, and David Turner Woodbridge of Front Royal; two daughters, Patricia Ann Woodbridge of Strasburg, and Tina Atkinson of Toms Brook; one sister, Catherine Sykes Webster of Dale City; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mrs. Woodbridge was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters; two brothers; and one grandchild, Tracey Atkinson.

Pallbearers will be Alton Woodbridge, Allen Woodbridge, Jonathon Woodbridge, Sean Woodbridge, Devin Woodbridge, Lee Woodbridge, Jr., Derek Kendall, and Tobin Richerson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 23 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    I am one of the kids from the day care! As an adult, we still use one of her recipes she shared with my grandma. Mrs Woodbridge had such a kind heart, her love touched so many people….so much that I remember her cooking&conversations over 20 years later. Even when my kids went there, I always told them how they missed out on the BEST!
