Barbara W. Groves, 88, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 240 Church St, Front Royal, VA 22630 with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.
Ms. Groves was born on July 20, 1936 in Front Royal, Virginia to the late James and Ada Roberts Washington. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Coolidge G. Groves; her son, Kim D. Groves; and her siblings, Lyle Roberts, Charles H. Washington Sr., Adriennie Richardson, and Geraldine Banks.
She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. She loved dancing, Sunday and Holiday family get togethers, and cutting up with her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Raynardo “Ray” Groves (Cassandra) of Stephens City, Virginia; daughter, Fonda Groves of Front Royal; sister, Jackie Gordon; six grandchildren, Tremayn Groves (Alison), DaShawn Groves, Danielle Rapp, Jairus Parker, Chevon Parker and Aaliyah Groves; seven great-grandchildren, Madison Rapp, Nya Groves, Tristan Rapp, Zariyana Parker, Kahleil Parker, Gavin Groves and Zoe Lacascio and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
We go thru life meeting thousands of people, only a few stand out in our memory, for me Barbara is one of them, such a joy to have known her.

Ray, Fonda. and family. What a wonderful lady! I worked with Barbara at KFC. she was so much fun. Then Istarting working at Jack Evans Chev. and met Coolidge. What a special kind man! a perfect match! . They were meant to be together. My prayers to all the family.
Barbara was (and Still is) a Beautiful Soul. We found her to be a Loving and Kind Person. We often joked about her fixing me some Liver and Onions. She will Truly be missed.
