Walter Edward Marlow, 85, of Limeton, VA, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Michael Normoyle. A reception will follow at the Browntown Baptist Church. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Mr. Marlow was born May 18, 1930 in Stephens City, VA, son of the late Walter Richard Marlow and Augusta Victoria Rudacille Marlow.
He was a graduate of Warren County High School, Class of 1949. Shortly after high school he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea for 18 months.
Mr. Marlow began a long and distinguished career with the Soil Conservation Service, where in 1985, he was named “Soil Conservationist of the Year” by the Virginia Wildlife Federation. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service and held several other jobs, one as a courier for Purolator, and finally as a customer service representative at the Front Royal DMV.
Mr. Marlow was a lifelong member of Browntown Baptist Church, where he served in numerous capacities.
Surviving are his wife, Lennis Marlow of Luray, VA; one daughter Carolyn Wilkins and her husband Gary of Kilmarnock, VA; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Sanders anad husband Dan of White Stone, VA and Kevin Wilkins of Weems, VA; one great-grandson, Nolan Sanders; a special niece, Vicki Davison and her husband Daryl of Limeton; great-nephew, Aron Davison; and a host of other extended family members.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Rudacille.
Pallbearers will be Aron Davison, Daryl Davison, Tommy Tharpe, Charles Smedley, Jan Vile, and Zach Vile.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
