It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hazel Mae Longmire Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Hazel passed away on April 20, 2025, at Lynn Care Center surrounded by loved ones at the age of eighty-nine. She was in born in Baltimore, Maryland to William (Bill) Sr. and Edith Bessel. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband John P. Williams and her parents, Bill Sr., and Edith. Hazel leaves behind her children whom she loved dearly, Carl Longmire (Mary), Michael Longmire (Sharon), William (Billy) Longmire (Kathy), Denise Harder (Darrell) and Michele Kenney (Noah). She was also the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren, James Longmire, Joseph Longmire, Joshua Longmire, Megan Longmire, B.J. Longmire, Brandon Longmire, Jessica Langlais-Kusiak, Christine Langlais, Justin Kenney, and Matthew Kenney, sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother William “Bill” Bessel Jr. of Port Charlotte, Florida.
Like her mother, Hazel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her father, Bill, was a member of the Order of the Masons. To say Hazel loved to cook is an understatement and she loved to share her recipes. She was once the owner of Country Kitchen on Main Street in Front Royal. Later she became a private duty nurse and took immense pride in the care she provided to her elderly patients. Always a constant learner, she loved to read, especially history books and National Geographic. She always loved a good cup of coffee and had an infectious smile that would light up any room.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Maddox Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 27 at Maddox Funeral Home with entombment at Shenandoah Memorial Park, 1720 Front Royal Pike, Winchester Va.

Dear Family,
It is with a heavy heart to hear of the death of my sister Hazel. I can remember my sister as a helper for many people who needed help and yes, she was a great cook she learned from our Mother. She will be terribly missed.
I am sorry to say my health will not allow me to travel to the service for my sister. I do have many fond memories of my sister and her family and happy times being with them. Those great memories will stay with me forever. God bless the Longmire family at these heartbreaking times.
With Love,
Uncle Bill & Joan
