Dorothy May Smoot, 79, of Strasburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Prospect Hill Cemetery with Sammy Campbell officiating.

Mrs. Smoot was born November 17, 1945 in Front Royal, Virginia, daughter of the late Clifford Charles Burell and Esther Katherine Jenkins Woodard.

Surviving are two sons, Teddy Smoot and wife Margie of Middletown and Jason “Mimi” Smoot and wife Sharon of Front Royal; one sister, Anna Dodson of Luray; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Davis Smoot; a son, Terry Smoot; and a daughter, Karen Alvoid.

The family will receive friends at Maddox Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27 from 1-2 p.m.
