Laura Anne Denny of Edgehill, Front Royal, died Friday, January 15, 2016, from complications of pulmonary hypertension, surrounded at the time by her close friends.
Laura was born on September 22, 1951, in Richmond, Virginia. She was a daughter of the late Elizabeth P. and Joseph L. Denny. She graduated from Warren County High School and was a member of the Class of 1969. She attended Westhampton College and then graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy. She was a retired pharmacist. She also volunteered her time at numerous local charities that served the needy. She was a devoted dog lover and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins. She was known for her Redskin tailgate parties and her annual 4th of July picnics. She also loved exploring Civil War Battlefields and was a “digger” of Civil War relics.
She is survived by her sisters Keturah Neville (Joe) of Leesburg and Jane Levy (David) of Glen Allen; her nephews Joseph Neville, Brent Levy, and John Levy; and a niece Elizabeth Levy. She also leaves behind devoted friends Linda Allen, Micki McDonald, Mary Stuart Sayers, Suzanne Silek, David Silek, and Mary Ann Rankin who cared for and loved her. In addition she leaves behind her companion dogs who stood watch over her.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Calvary Episcopal Church.
