Debbie Atkins Llewellyn

~ March 23, 1955- August 9, 2025~

Debra “Debbie” Kay Atkins Llewellyn of Front Royal VA passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, with her immediate family by her side.

Debbie blessed this world on March 23, 1955, to the late Robert and Virginia Atkins.

She was a lifelong resident of Front Royal/ Warren County and loved her community dearly. Community involvement came second nature to Debbie and the thought of helping others filled her heart. From Fantasyland, BRAC, St. Lukes, Relay for Life, FR Jaycettes, WC Chamber of Commerce and many others she lived for a busy schedule that often had her running “a few minutes late”.

Her love for art and expression came in many forms. From her beautiful calligraphy writing skills to the flowers that she sculpted into art Debbie surrounded herself with joy and beauty. As the original owner of Debbie’s Ivy Garden Flower Shop, she was able to assist others in the joys of celebration while comforting those during difficult times. The contributions she made over the years to various organizations was always a point of great pride.

Debbie would not want us to dwell on the challenges that she has endured over the past 15 years following a surgery that left her in a quadriplegic state but rather to celebrate a life that was filled with so many positives. The involvement of her Friends, Family and Faith over the years has truly shown what Debbie has always known. Find the good in any situation and love with a full heart.

She was fortunate enough to dance through the good times and navigate the difficult times with her husband and love of her life, Charlie, by her side. Debbie loved her two sons with all her heart and was blessed with many other “adopted sons” from the friends her boys would have over. She loved a full house, large meals and the chance to rock a baby, because babies don’t keep.

Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult time.

Loving survivors include her beloved husband, Charlie Llewellyn; son, Matthew and wife Molly, grandchildren Kinley and Keaton Llewellyn; son, Michael; brother, Robbie (Vickie) Atkins; cousin and best friend, Donna Knox; brothers and sister in-laws; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private family service will be held soon, with a Celebration of Life scheduled in the fall (her favorite season) on a date that the family will announce.

Please visit Prayer Circle for Debbie Llewellyn on Facebook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samuels Public Library, The Humane Society of Warren County or St. Luke’s Community Clinic.

My deepest sympathy and prayers to my beautiful cousin Debbie’s family and loved ones. I take solace in knowing that she is surrounded by our Savior’s light and so many many loved ones gone before us.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.🕊

Debbie was a shining light in life and she’ll continue to be a shining light in death. Debbie was a gracious, kind and beautiful person. Whenever I saw her she always let me know she loved us all. I may not have been to see her over the years, but she was always on my mind. I know she walked her way into the pearly gates of heaven and was met by her mom and dad and many loved ones that passed before her. She is no longer a quadriplegic but a beautiful angel that will be dancing her way through heaven. We have lost a precious soul but heaven gained an angel.. Debbie, RIP my dear sweet cousin. You were loved by many and will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlie and the family as you navigate thorough this time of sadness.

Debbie was full of life, personality and energy. I’ve told the story many times of she and I were in the Pizza Hut eating at the same time. As she was coming out of the restroom, I was going in. She said out loud: THAT DAMN THING (meaning the commode) WILL SUCK THE SKIN RIGHT OFF YOUR A–!! She wasn’t wrong! She was a great gal!! My condolences to her family.

What a wonderful memory – thanks for sharing it! I can imagine it. I thought the world of Debbie – any time there was anything that the community needed, Debbie’s name was right at the top of the list of volunteers and coordinators. May God bless and keep all the family. I was saddened to hear just last week of her passing, but happy to know she is present with our Lord as feisty as ever!

I fondly remember Debbie when she started Debbie’s Ivy flowers. When I was with the Sentinel I interviewed her about that and many other things she was involved in. I was struck by how positive she was. I recall the late Sentinel ad rep Judy Smith saying, “if you ever want to be cheered up for any reason, go see Debbie Llewellyn…”
I’m shocked and saddened to learn of her passing and that she was a paraplegic. My dear late mother was left paralyzed from the waist down from a tick bite, Rocky mountain spotted fever. hopefully our Savior can bring them together and they can meet in heaven.
My deepest condolences to her many family and friends.

Debbie was simply the best. I enjoyed her so much, starting in intermediate school and onnthrough high school. She was a cheerleader who kept the rest of us laughing. She was part of Tri Theta Sorority, and sang stupid songs with me. She even left me a song in her senior (WCHS) will! Those of us touched by Debbie will never forget her. Blessings and love to her family, and prayers for Debbie and all of you.
