Nancy Gore Chapman, 81, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the comfort of her home.
A memorial service will take place at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W. Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630 with Reverend Bertina Westley officiating. A visitation will take place three hours prior to the service. Following all services her interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Nancy was born on September 29, 1944 in Front Royal, Virginia to the late John Walter and Esther Kipps Hoskins Gore. She is also preceded in death by her son, Brian Neal Chapman.
Surviving Nancy is her loving husband of 62 years, Douglas Lee Chapman; and her three nieces, Lynn Jenkins, Sharon Cabiness, and Pam Scott.
Nancy retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers and also worked for the phone company and FEMA. She was a member of Stephens City United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice 333 W Cork Street, #405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

I worked with Nancy in Wiesbaden, Germany with The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
She was a beautiful person and passed on some of her knowledge to me. She was always patient and always kind. She was also very intelligent and funny.
Look out for my son Grayson, Nancy. He left this world in October 2025, shortly before you. Hold him and love him for me, please, and I will see you both someday.
