Sterling Price Davis, Sr.

Sterling Price Davis, Sr., 73, of Front Royal, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Commonwealth Assisted Living.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Sammy Campbell. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was born January 1, 1943 in Front Royal, VA son of the late William S. “Bill” Davis and Cora Jane Reid Davis. He was a graduate of John S. Mosby Academy Class of 1961 and retired as a dental lab technician after forty years of service to his community. He was Presbyterian by faith. Mr. Davis was a lifelong member of the NRA and was also a member of Two Rivers Archery Club. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing and he was proud of the trophy mounts that he had acquired over his lifetime and he was an avid collector of World War I and World War II memorabilia.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years Joyce Clark Davis; one devoted daughter Sonja Lalumondiere and husband Mark; one brother Mark R. Davis and wife Yun Hui of Appomattox, VA; three special and loving grandchildren Brook, Heather, and Alex; special cousin Scott Reid and wife Sue; and last but not least his faithful four-legged companion Max. He was preceded in death by his son Sterling P. “Price” Davis, Jr.

He was a kind, smart and very humble man who had many friends, and would always be there for anyone who needed his help.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 21, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
