Grace Miller Green, 94, passed away March 22, 2016. Mrs. Green resided in Front royal, VA before moving to Hidden Springs Senior Living, Bentonville, VA in 2014.
Mrs. Green grew up in Uhrichsville, Ohio and was preceded in death by her parents, Oma and Herbert Seldon Miller and her brothers, Myron J. Miller and Carl Eugene Miller.
She graduated from West Penn Nursing School in Pittsburg, PA where she worked until she moved to Markham, VA in 1946 with her husband Henry C. Green. Along with raising their six children, Grace served on the Social Services Board in Warrenton, worked at the Markham Post Office, and served as a nurse at Warren Memorial Hospital and later volunteered at the hospital. She was a member of Eastern Star and of the Front Royal United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her six children: Jaque Bradford, Margaret Morris, John Green, Bill Green and his wife Sharon all of Markham; Henry Green, Jr. and his wife Cheryll of Winchester; and Elizabeth Mathias of Moorefield, WV. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Ann B. and her husband Graham Vaughan of Richmond, VA; Brian and his wife Georgi Green of Markham; Burke and his wife Beth Green of Berkeley, CA; Michael Mathias of Moorefield, WV; Dr. Megan Mathias of Benson, NC; Corinne Green of Haymarket, VA; Amanda Lewis of Linden, VA; Grace and Diana Green of Markham. She is survived by two great-grandchildren, Walker and Mackenzie Vaughan of Richmond. She also leaves two nieces and three nephews; several great nieces and great nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves her good friend and traveling companion Sara Cary of Charlottesville, VA.
The family expresses their thanks to Vick and Daryl Davison and the staff at Hidden Springs Senior Living where she experienced and enjoyed an active life as well as professional and loving care.
A memorial service will be held at Front Royal United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, conducted by the Rev. Alan Combs.
