Ray Lewis Cooper, 85, of Front Royal, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, in his home.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 11,at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Normoyle. Interment will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Cooper was born on April 11, 1931, in Warren County son of the late Hezekiah Cooper and Alice Elizabeth Deavers Cooper. He owned and operated Cooper’s IGA for many years.

Surviving are his loving wife Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Cooper; four children Tom Cooper, Pam Tuthill, Robert Creekmur, Jr., and Jim Lawson; five grandchildren Sarah Nolan, Travis Cook, Kayla Creekmur, Rob Creekmur, III, and Ebbie Creekmur; and four great-grandchildren Kole Cook, Trey Creekmur, Kali Cook, and Leslie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Rob Creekmur, Travis Cook, Bob Tuthill, Rob Creekmur, III, Jim Lawson, and Charlie Plauger.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
