Edith Karlowich, 94, formerly of East Haven, CT, passed away July 3, 2016 at her home in Front Royal, VA.
Edith was born May 3, 1922 in Brooklyn NY; daughter of the late Herman and Jenny Hodge Andrea, also predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Edith is survived by her former husband Robert A. Karlowich, daughters Candance Breault of East Haven, CT, Michele Scott-Duns of Front Royal, VA, son Robert J. Karlowich of Staten Island, NY, sisters Lorraine King, Carolyn Cantara of East Haven, CT, brother Robert Andrea of Waterbury, CT, and 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Edith retired from Seton Sign Co. Branford, CT. Edith enjoyed a career in modeling in NY before moving to IL. She attended the University of Illinois and continued her studies to become a Special Education Teacher, teaching in IL, NJ, and VA. Edith loved gardening, cooking and traveling; she traveled through Europe and the US with her children and grandchildren in tow. When not working, volunteering or traveling Edith could be found snuggled up with a good book and her cats Velcro and Omega.
Edith was a member of the East Haven Historical Society and the Olde Stone Church.
A memorial service will be held at the Olde Stone Church, East Haven, CT at a future date.
