Robert Joseph Smallwood, 69, of Front Royal, VA , died on Monday, October 31, 2016 in Winchester, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Shenandoah Farms Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Calvin Brownlow. Burial will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bluemont, VA at 2:30 p.m.

Mr. Smallwood was born July 22, 1947 in Winchester, VA son of the late Robert Lee Smallwood and Ruby Marie Poston Smallwood.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service with over 30 years of service.

He was a faithful member of Shenandoah Farms Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities, including the church softball team and founding of the Shenandoah Farms Baptist Boys, a gospel bluegrass group.

Surviving are four children Kimber Shaffer, Kristy Smallwood, Jaimie Smallwood and Mindy Smallwood all of Front Royal; one brother Stanley Lee Smallwood of Front Royal; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters Nina Marie Smallwood and Karen Kay Smallwood.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Fisher, Jr., Barry Smallwood, Terrace Thompson, Colton Smallwood, Alan Shaffer, III, and Alex Whitmore.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Smallwood, Billy Smallwood, and Robbie Smallwood.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 8, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
