Gene Harrison Stonebreaker, 78, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Center in Winchester, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 3:30 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with Rev. Christof Weber officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Stonebreaker was born on June 21, 1938 in Front Royal to the late Joseph Haven Stonebreaker and Gladys Menefee Stonebreaker. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and retired from the Town of Front Royal after 32 years.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, whom he married on Valentine’s Day, Bonnie G. Hamman Stonebreaker; three daughters, Deborah Jean Tharpe (Hollis), Donna Lynn Santmyers (Ralph) and Sandra Gail Long (Bill); two brothers, Roger Stonebreaker and Donald Stonebreaker; sister, Connie Stonebreaker; six grandchildren, Tonia Salvato (Jani), Melissa Sisk (Greg), Amy Lang, Michael Jenkins (Ashley), Jordan Long and Will Long, III; ten great grandchildren, Jamie, Dillon, Noah, Chloe, Caleb, Dru, Colby, Gage, Maison and Heaven; one great great grandson, James and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Gene Harrison Stonebreaker, Jr.; daughter, Rhonda Sue Stonebreaker and his brothers, Richard and Bobbie Stonebreaker.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 to 3:30 on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and oldest grandsons.
