David Kennan Ramsey, Sr., 80, of Front Royal, VA, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Winchester, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Sammy Campbell. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

David was born June 28, 1937 in Augusta County, VA, son of the late Otho Cornelius Ramsey and Pauline Gladys Hays Ramsey. He was a graduate of Warren County High School and retired as a financial secretary from Textile Union Local # 371 in Front Royal. David attended Marlow Heights Baptist Church and was a member of the Avtex Retiree Club.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years Diane Kirby Ramsey of Front Royal; three children David K. “Davey” Ramsey, Jr. and wife Denise of Vienna, VA, Jennifer “Jenny” Ramsey of Winchester, and Mark Ramsey and wife Leanna of Warren County; three sisters Peggy Cooley of Chesterfield, VA, Linda Dodson and husband Donald of Haymarket, VA, and Betty Bower and husband John of Warren County; grandchildren Trey Ramsey, Jordan Ramsey, Jacob Ramsey, Elly Licklider, Madison Ramsey, Sadi Comstock, and Emersyn Ramsey; and his favorite feline companion Slick; He was preceded in death by his sister Marian Ramsey; and a brother-in-law Johnny Cooley.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
