Janet Mary Benzing “Auntie M”, 77, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her home.

A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11 AM at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Front Royal. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, Virginia.

Mrs. Benzing was born on February 14, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Clyde and Margaret Meagher Vogel. She was a registered nurse and served as an Active Duty Naval Nurse at Bethesda Naval Hospital during the Vietnam War. She ended her Naval Career as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. She worked for many years at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal and was Associate Director of Nursing. She also started the Home Health Agency with Warren Memorial. She ended her nursing career as a case manager with ULLICO in Washington, DC. For many years she volunteered at the St. Luke Community Clinic in Front Royal.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane M. Williams (Greg) of Winchester, Virginia; sister, Ellen Vogel Woods of South Carolina; granddaughter, Hannah E. Williams of Winchester; two nieces, Amy Wells of Maryland and Megan Gallogly of Winchester; three great nieces and three great nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal.
