Vernon Leary Figgins, 92 of Mount Crawford, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Figgins was born November 4, 1925, in Front Royal, Virginia to the late Russell Figgins
and Mozelle Ramey Figgins. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher and
numerous brothers and sisters.
He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Weyers Cave, Va., and a longtime
member of the American Simmental Association. He worked 60 years in the A.I. Industry and
bred Simmental cattle for 40 years. He loved cattle and children and participated in helping both
his children and grandchildren with 4-H, showing cattle for the Fair. He was an avid baseball
fan and loved the Baltimore Orioles. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Helen Alberta Figgins of Mount Crawford; three sons, David Figgins (Lila) of Mount Crawford, Keith Figgins (Karen) of Broadway and Leary Figgins (Andrea) of Mount Crawford; daughter, Lori Figgins Martin (Troy) of Mount Crawford; eight grandchildren, Jason, Dustin, Colton, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Aaron, Nathaniel and Isaiah; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 5-7 PM at Bethany United Methodist
Church in Weyers Cave, Va. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 1 pm.
At Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main St., Front Royal, Va., with the Rev. John Lock and
Rodney Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society
at www.cancer.org.

Dave, Keith and Lori sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Enjoyed meeting him and he was a great man. Your families are in my prayers during your time of sorrow.
