Blaine W. Tewalt, 82, of Front Royal, passed away on Wednesday June 6, 2018, in the Commonwealth Senior Living of Front Royal.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Rev. Dottie Holden officiating. Interment will follow in the Panorama Memorial Gardens at Waterlick.

Mr. Tewalt was born on September 12, 1935, in Toms Brook, Virginia son of the late Kenneth Wilson Tewalt and Naomi Virginia Ritenour Tewalt Craycraft. He worked as a police officer for the Front Royal Police Department, then transferred to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy. He later worked as a Virginia State Fire Marshall and retired from Mellon Estates from the Security Department. Mr. Tewalt was a member of the Chester Gap Baptist Church, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the IWLA of Warren County, the B.O.P.E. lodge of Front Royal and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #829.

Surviving are a daughter Gail Tennett and husband Mike of Strasburg; two sons Terry Tewalt and wife Julia of Front Royal and Jamie Tewalt and wife Cindy of Front Royal; one brother Eugene Tewalt of Front Royal; one sister Vada Seal of Rileyville; six grandchildren Nathan Tennett, Kelly Barisciano, Kenny Tewalt, Margaret Tewalt, Joshua Tewalt and Christopher Tewalt; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mr. Tewalt was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years Thelma Mae Figgins Tewalt and two brothers James Tewalt and Walter Tewalt.

Pallbearers will be Mark Tewalt, Joshua Tewalt, Christopher Tewalt, Kenny Tewalt, Nathan Tennett and Tim Tewalt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Wymer, Tommy Strickler and Ray Turner.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
