Vincent Joseph Ryan, Jr., 84, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Lynn Care Center in Front Royal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Front Royal With the Rev. Kevin J. Beres officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Ryan was born on June 15, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Vincent Joseph Ryan, Sr. and Frances McHugh Ryan. He was formerly the Managing Editor for the National Catholic Register and the American Free Press. He was a tenured English Literature Professor in Michigan before moving to Virginia. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elaine Marianne Ryan; son, Vincent J. Ryan, III of Raleigh, North Carolina; two daughters, Mary Frances Daly of Great Falls, Virginia and Rosanne Allen of Fairfax, Virginia; brother, James Ryan of Punta Gorda, Florida; sister, Mary Lou Fischer of Northville, Michigan; eight grandchildren and expecting one great grandson later this year.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal.
