Carol Elizabeth Smallwood, 64, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 2 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with Sammy Campbell officiating.
Mrs. Smallwood was born on December 21, 1954 in Madison, Wisconsin to the late William and Betty Rosein Schumacher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Lee Smallwood and brother, William Schumacher Jr.
Survivors include her two sons, William Lee Smallwood and Robert Lee Smallwood; daughter, Angela Marie Cooke; two brothers, Robert Schumacher and Brian Schumacher; two sisters, Debbie Hensley-Cook and Laurie Kauppi; five grandchildren, Haley Cooke, Jaylin Pritchard, Madison Smallwood, Connor Smallwood and Kristen Smallwood.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Maddox Funeral Home for assistance with funeral expenses.

Carol was my older sister and the oldest of us kids. Growing up we of course had sibling arguments but going into adulthood we had a great sister relationship! We each married and went to other ends of the country. I came to CA and Carol to Virginia. We talked by phone over the years quite often but what saddens me is we only got to see each other three times in our adult years. My son John and I flew to Virginia in 1984 and we got to see each other at our dad’s funeral in 1989 and the last time we saw each other was at our mom’s funeral in 1996. Almost 23 years have gone by and due to finances for both of us we just could never see each other again. I love my sister so much and will miss our sister talks. She always had good advice and just catching up was always so nice. I hate that we lost her so quickly but there are two blessings: She did not have to suffer for years and I know she is happy to be back with Stan the love of her life. She is also back with our mom and dad and brother, Bill.
I will always hold you close to my heart Carol and I will always be here for your 3 children. I love you very much!!!! Enjoy Heaven.
