Catherine Brooks passed gently from this life on Friday, April 3RD, surrounded by her family in Front Royal, VA.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband of 68 years, Stanley Brooks, Sr.; daughter, Donna Brady and husband Steve of Warren County; son, Stan Brooks, Jr. of Front Royal; granddaughters, Holly Sutherly and husband Kevin of Edinburg, VA and Kerri Mellott of Woodstock, VA; great-grandchildren, Tucker Moats, Steele Sutherly and Kennedi Mellott. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Juanitia Morneault of Warren County.
Mrs. Brooks was preceeded in death by her sisters, Margaret Tennett and Thelma Ellinger; her brother, Jonas Derflinger, and two brothers who died in infancy.
Mrs. Brooks was born on October 3, 1924 in the Bethel area of Warren County. She grew up there, the daughter of Grover and Violet Fox Derflinger.
She graduated from Warren County High School in 1944 and was married on April 6, 1947. She was a devoted lifelong member of Bethel Assembly of God as well as a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Front Royal and later in life a member of Marlow Heights Baptist Church.
Catherine was a kind and generous Christian woman, devoted to her family, her church, and her friends. She was especially kind to those less fortunate than herself.
Family night will be held at Bethel Assembly of God in Warren County on Monday, April 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 11:00 a.m. again at Bethel Assembly of God.
Pallbearers for the service will be Bobby Tennett, Mike Tennett, Frankie Derflinger, Terry Siever, Tyler Siever, Travis Siever, Ronnie Ellinger, Bruce Ellinger, and Walter Britton.
