Alma Lee Bailey, 84, of Winchester, died Tuesday, May 12, 2014, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Rev. Sherry Waddell officiating. Burial will follow at Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey was born September 4, 1930, in Virginia, the daughter of the late John Samuel Crane and Amber James Crane. She was the wife of the late Robert Winfred Bailey. She retired from Aileen’s. She enjoyed cooking, baking crocheting and sewing. She loved her family and never met a stranger.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by two daughters, Barbara B. Mellott of Winchester and Sharon Ritenour of Strasburg; her siblings Ernest Crane of Flint Hill, Oliver Crane of Kilmarnock, Catholene McGrady, Onile Salisbury and Joanne Fristoe all of Front Royal; her grandchildren Kimberly Mellott of Richmond, Jennifer Grant of Strasburg, Geoffrey Mellott of Woodstock, and Tony Appel of Strasburg; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Edgell Crane, Ronald Crane and Bruce Crane.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
