Ivy Racer was born March 24, 1936, to Ellen Baker Jenkins and Aubrey Robinson Jenkins in Rappahannock County.

She was a loving wife and mother, homemaker, wonderful cook, and in-home caregiver. She especially enjoyed working puzzles with her granddaughters, Angela Deavers and Lauren Eline. She enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with her son-in-law, Charles “Bud” Smoot, and grandson, Wesley Cooke, and his children, Hunter and Kyla.

Ivy passed peacefully at home in Warren County March 17, 2022, with her two daughters, Carolyn Racer Eline and Mary Ellen Smoot, by her side.

She is survived by her five children, one brother, Troy Jenkins (Betty), one sister, Kathleen Lee, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll Racer, Jr., and siblings, Nelson Jenkins, Jimmie Jenkins, Edna Burke, Abbie Jenkins, Wayne Jenkins, David Jenkins, and Linda Dwyer.

Maddox Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice.
