Alba Owens Turner, 73, of Front Royal, Virginia, went home to glory on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Winchester Medical Center.
A homegoing service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Front Royal United Methodist Church with the Reverends Tonia Leavy and Charles Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
Alba was born on February 21, 1952 in Front Royal, Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry Joseph Owens Jr. and Cora Mae Nickens Owens.
Alba began playing the piano at her home church, Williams Chapel CME Church, at the age of eight. By the age of 14, she was also playing at Mount Paran Baptist Church in Linden, Virginia, and later at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Front Royal, Virginia.
She was a member of several gospel groups, including the Royalette Gospel Singers, Free Spirit, Angelic Voices, and the Echoes of Joy Community Choir, which was composed of members from 19 local churches and performed annually at the Festival of Leaves celebration.
Surviving is her devoted and loving husband of 33 years, Burkley A. Turner; two daughters, LaTaunya Washington, and LaTasha Washington-Anderson and her husband Maurice Anderson, all of South Chesterfield, Virginia; one step-daughter, Tanya Turner of Winchester, Virginia; and one step-son, Antonio Coates of Leesburg, Virginia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sierra, Jaron, Chelsea, Dayziah, Jada, Nia, and Dayzahun; and five great-grandchildren, Marlo, Marsai, Jakai, Malania, and Remi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Henry Joseph “Ace” Owens III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll “Cee” Russell Jr., Jamond Hackley, Jaron Jackson, Henry Joseph Owens IV, Faron Russell, Joshua Owens and Jerry Flynn.
