Arthur Lee “Billy” Jenkins, 85, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 3 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Jenkins was born on June 17, 1933 in Warren County, Virginia to the late Russell and Hazel Henry Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Gregory “Butch” Jenkins and Clay “CD” Jenkins; brother, Russell “Bugs” Jenkins; sister, Helen Priest and two granddaughters, Jennifer Jenkins and Noelani Harrison.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was employed by the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute as a grounds keeper. He was a life member of VFW post 9760, a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 829 and a member of American Legion post 53.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bertha Lee Robinson Jenkins; son, John Jenkins (Sharon White); daughter, Sherri Totten (Gary); special granddaughter, Jayme Jenkins Marston, whom he raised; three daughters-in-law, Penni Jenkins, Janis Jenkins and Tina Jenkins; special family friend, Kimberly Darr; seven grandchildren, Jayme Marston, Laura Roberts, Samantha Jenkins, Bryan Jenkins, Aaron Jenkins, Billy Jenkins, and Katie Jenkins and eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Jenkins, Aaron Jenkins, Billy Jenkins, Chad Marston, Joe Roberts and Adam White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hively and Jackie Chadwell.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
