Betty Jane Byrd Streapy, 80, of Huntly, Virginia passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Front Royal, Virginia. Burial will follow in Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington, Virginia.

Mrs. Streapy was born on July 2, 1936 in Rocky Mount, Virginia to the late Reginald and Gladys Byrd.

She became a Registered Nurse in 1959 after graduating from the Alexandria School of Nursing and worked at both Alexandria Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital before moving to Rappahannock County. She came to work at Warren Memorial Hospital in 1979 and was the Nurse Manager on the Medical Surgical ward, second floor south retiring after over twenty years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Major Ed Streapy; two daughters, Lisa Streapy of Reston, Virginia and Cathy Nowell and her husband, Steve of Front Royal; brother-in-law, W.D. Tuck of Rocky Mount, Virginia; grandson, Jeffrey Turner of Strasburg, Virginia and two great grandsons, Nathaniel Turner and Colton Turner both of Strasburg.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 6 to 7:30 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal.
