Charles T. “Charlie” Mills

Charles T. “Charlie” Mills, 84, of Linden, left to join his heavenly Father on Monday, October 30, 2017.

Charlie was born on February 23, 1933, in Washington D.C. son of the late Ruth Anderson and Charles Mills.

He is survived by his wife Anette; six children; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister Helen Swain of Roanoke, VA; and a ton of friends.

Charlie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Front Royal, which he dearly loved especially his Sunday school class “Charlie’s Angels”.

Charlie served in the U.S. Navy as a submariner on the U.S. Redfish 395. He retired from the Marriott Corp., but never really quit working until his health stopped him. Charlie’s after retirement jobs included Sweet Time, clock repair, auctioneer, antiques, Second Chance and his long hours of working in the garden. He was always busy and happy.

His epitaph “I lived, I died, and in between, I tried”.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Front Royal conducted by Rev. Bruce Queen and Chaplain Susan O’Kelly . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and also on Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Charlie’s memory to the First Baptist Church, 14 West 1st Street, Front Royal, VA 22630 or to the Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
