Colleen Ellen (McCauley) Ganoe, lovingly known as “Nanny”, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026 at the age of 87, at home surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens in Waterlick.
She was born December 8, 1938 in Wahington, D.C., daughter of the late Clyde and Ethel McCauley.
A longtime resident of Manassas Park, Virginia, Colleen moved to Warren County, Virginia in 2005. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Nothing made her happier than gathering everyone together, and she took great pride in hosting family functions. Her home was always open, her table always full, and she lived by the belief that “there always room for one more”.
Colleen had a deep love for holidays and decorating, finding joy in making every celebration feel special. She cherished her years working for Bowl America, attending plays with friends, volunteering at LFK, spending time watching her great-grandchildren and passing down meaningful traditions to the next generation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ganoe; daughter, Dorothy Wadel; brother, George Loveless; and sister, Thelma Mills.
Colleen is survived by daughters, Corinne Via (Dennis) and Eileen Corbin (Kenny); son-in-law, Troy Wadel; brother, Jim McCauley; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; one step-great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7 at Baker-Post Funeral Home in Manassas from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, January 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home.
Colleen’s legacy lives on in the traditions she shared and the memories she created with those she loved most. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nicole Champney, for her compassionate care and support for our parents during their final days.
