Dorothy Maxine Pritt Williams, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at her home in Chester Gap, Virginia surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be private.

Dorothy was born January 3, 1941 in Warm Springs, Virginia, daughter of the late Marguerite Frye and Edward Pritt and Edith Pritt. Her step-father, Charlie Frye survives them.

She was married to the late George N. “Joe” Williams.

Dorothy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for the simple joys of home and tradition.

Dorothy began her professional life as a seamstress at Aileen Manufacturing in Strasburg, Virginia. Her attention to detail and dedication to her craft were evident from the start. Later in life after raising her children, she retired from Martin’s Food Store, where she was known for her reliability, friendliness, and warm presence.

Beyond her career, Dorothy found great joy in creating a loving and welcoming home. She had a love of cooking, baking, and sewing. Christmas was especially dear to her heart. Each year she transformed her home into a festive haven filled with warmth and wonder for all to enjoy.

At the center of Dorothy’s life was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put the needs of her loved ones first. Her unwavering support and encouragement helped shape the lives of those closest to her. She believed in kindness, hard work and helping others whenever possible.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Murphy and husband Glenn; son, Christopher Williams and wife Leslie; three grandchildren, Dani Jones and husband Chris Jones, Andrew Williams and Heather Williams; four great-grandchildren, Bayleigh, Mallory, Nataleigh and Alex; two brothers, Tom Pritt (Nancy) and Robert Pritt (Sharon); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Dorothy, which would be greatly appreciated, to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601

    Dorothy was a beautiful lady inside and out. I always looked up to her and will never forget those Beautiful Eyes. Donna and Chris, you have been blessed to have such a wonderful mother. May God Bless you and your family at this time of sorrow.
