J. “Ace” Acebo, 85, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, Virginia surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Known to many as Ace, he was born to the late Severiano and Maria Acebo on January 28, 1940 in Bellville, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers.
Ace is survived by his loving wife, Diane, including sister in laws, Margaret Shifflett, Debbie Dokken (Mark) and family members, Gary Neal Jr. (Amy), Jeff Neal (Missi) and five grandchildren, Jacob, Kaley, Spencer, Liam, and Ryin.
Ace is survived by a brother, Victoriano Acebo and many loving nephews and nieces.
Ace served proudly with distinction in the United States Marine Corps receiving commendations and honors for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, “Semper Fidelis” (Always Faithful) to his friends and family.
Ace was a pioneer, visionary and leader in the electrical business world. He became an accomplished master electrician and was recruited to work with an electrical company, Direct Electric, as the Superintendent serving throughout the Washington, DC area. This led to beginning a lifelong dedication to developing innovative labor-saving techniques for the electrical industry. He attended trade shows and visited jobsites, expanding his electrical business acumen throughout his tenure.
While growing deep roots across the Shenandoah Valley, Ace continued his electrical career and became the proud owner of Ace’s Electric, working until his passing at 85 years of age.
He achieved enormous personal and business success, lived life to the fullest, and never lost his humility, his reverence for the working man, or his quick warm wit.
His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and his natural mechanical ability. His attention to detail was legendary. He took pride in the fact that he always left his customers satisfied.
An avid outdoorsman, Ace had a passion and love for hunting, fishing, and boating.
His fishing and hunting friends always said “He was the type of man you could ride the river with and have fun.”
Ace was a loyal member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge.
Family and friends knew of his character, his integrity, his dignity, his generosity, and his unwavering loyalty.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Winchester and Warren Memorial Hospitals, Lynn Care Center, Heritage Hall, and Blue Ridge Hospice for their compassionate care throughout Ace’s illness.
