John Wheeler Messick, 92, of Waterlick, passed away on December 19, 2016.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Buckton Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Messick was born July 29, 1924 in Warren County, VA son of William Messick and Tori Mitchell Messick. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and retired from Avtex after 46 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Buckton Presbyterian Church and a life member of VFW Post 1860 and American Legion Post 53.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years Ann Presley Messick; one daughter Barbara Sue “Susie” Ralls and husband Eddy; and a grandson Christopher Allen Miller. He was preceded in death by two sons John William Messick and Shelby Ray Messick; one sister Elizabeth Wilson; and a brother Edward Messick.
