Joyce Ann Smith, 84, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Crown Care Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Harrisonville, Missouri where she served as the Resident Representative President for three years and was a vocal advocate for the occupants of the facility with the Governing Board.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia with Pastor Gary Utz officiating.  Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born on December 13, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late J.W. Shawhan and Alta Schryer Shawhan Page.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Augustus Smith and two sisters, Donna Shawhan and Patricia Purdue.  She was a part of the Front Royal Community and a member of Happy Creek Baptist Church for many years before returning to Missouri.

Survivors include her son, Garrison “Gary” Smith of Liberty, Missouri and three grandchildren, Amanda Stears of Raytown, Missouri, Matthew Smith of Kansas City, Kansas and Emily Banning of Independence, Missouri.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
