Maryann Appel Rankin, 69, of Front Royal, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 21, 2017, in her home.

A celebration of Maryann’s life will be held at a later date.

Maryann was born on November 15, 1947, in Washington D.C. daughter of the late Charles Andrew Appel, Jr. and Mary Cullen Appel. She was a professional gardener.

Surviving are one son David Rankin of Front Royal; one daughter Michael Ann Rankin Browne of Silver Spring, MD; three brothers Edward Appel of Bethany Beach, DE, Peter Appel of Dover, DE, and Paul Appel of Phoenix, AZ; one sister Peggy Appel Munn of Bethel Park, PA; and three grandchildren Asilynn Rankin, Caitlynn Rankin, and Daniel Browne.
