Peggy A. “Jenny” Shell

Peggy A. “Jenny” Shell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, 87, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Monday, February 24, 2025.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Jenny was born August 1, 1937 in Virginia, daughter of the late George Burke Windle, Sr. and Maude Brown Windle.

Surviving are two sons, Donnie Shell of Strasburg and Tommy Shell and wife Tammy Jo of Front Royal; three daughters, Judy Kent of South Boston, Virginia, Candy Bruce and husband Billy of Oklahoma, and Helen Smith and husband Jerry of Front Royal; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and Jennifer Shell, a granddaughter whom she thought of as a daughter.

Jenny was the last surviving sibling of her immediate family of 13.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 12 siblings; and a son, Ronnie Shell.

Pallbearers will be Chris Shell, Jerramy Shell, Ricky Cromer, Drew Goss, Travis Shell and Carroll Hawes.

Honorary pallbearer will be Lanedon Shell.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2 from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
