Rev. Gerald Andrew Holden went home to be with the Lord at his home on October 30, 2017. He was surrounded ;by his wife of 40 years and his family members. Gerald at the time of his death remained an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He along with his wife were former Pastors of Narrow Passage Assembly of God and presently at Strasburg Assembly of God. He previously sang with the Holy Terrors Ministers, and he was also a member of the Ministerial Fellowship in Woodstock and Central Section Ministerial Fellowship. Recognizing his calling at a young age Gerald went to school to become a licensed mechanic in order to help support his way through college and his love for ministry. He is a 1975 graduate of South-Eastern University where he was part of the Jail Student Ministry, Tennis Club, Inter-Club Council, Golf club and soccer coach. Gerald also worked for the United States Postal Service.
He loved God and his wife dearly, his family and his church family. His gentle spirit and love for the Bible were two of his ourstanding characteristics.
Gerald was born December 10, 1947 in Perry Sound, Canada, the son of James Eric Holden and Marion Michaelis Holden.
He is survived by his wife, Dora “Dottie”Johnson Holden of Middletown, Virginia; his brother Harold Dennis Holden of Seminole, Florida; his sisters and brother in laws Juanita and Tim Senter, Jim and Emogene Ringer of Middletown, Virginia; sister in law Secora Holden of Texas, nephews Timothy Senter of Portland, Oregan, JD Ringer of Middletown, Virginia, Mark and his wife Jenn of Seminole, Florida, Matthew Bingaman, Huey Holden of Houston; nieces Jessica Holden of Houston, Texas, Michelle Bingaman, Gina and husband Rusty Franklin of Stephen City and daughters Emmalee and Sara; and many great nephews and nieces, and great-great nieces; and a wonderful church family. He is also survived by a great-great niece Peyton Marie Good who brought him great joy in his last days.
He is also preceded in death by his parents along with his brother Robert Paul Holden, sisters Violet Holden Johnston, Virginia Ruth Holden Bingaman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Strasburg Assembly of God Church on 556 Ash Street, Strasburg, Virginia.
A viewing will be held at Maddox Funeral Home on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Praying for you Dot. I can’t even imagine what you are going through but I know your faith in God and your sweet family will see you through. Also your congregation at church all love you.
