Robert Norris Hansucker

Robert Norris Hansucker, 87, of Front Royal, Virginia, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center of Winchester, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Dr. R. Mark Jordan. The family will first receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Maddox Funeral home in Front Royal.

Mr. Hansucker was born on December 25, 1930, to the late Idalia Norris Hansucker and George Ralph Hansucker, Sr. He graduated from Warren County High School in 1949 and enlisted in the XXI United States Army Corp, serving in the 199th Army Band 5th Armored Division. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal, having received the Korean Services Medal with one Bronze Star.

Mr. Hansucker then worked for twenty-five years for the Retail Credit Company (currently Equifax, Inc.) before retiring and opening Bob’s Florist in Strasburg, Virginia.

He married Ruth Carson Williams in 1951, who predeceased him on November 30, 2000. He was also predeceased by his older brother, George Ralph Hansucker, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Lynn C. Hansucker and Page H. Bowman (Thomas Michael Bowman, Jr, deceased December 1, 2017). His favorite things were the Washington Redskins, Boston Celtics, UVA Cavaliers, jazz, and golf, including hitting golf balls up on to the Randolph-Macon Academy hill from early spring until late fall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 14 West 1st Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630 and to the Humane Society of Warren County, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
