Catherine “Irma” Duplessis, 87, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 at Commonwealth Senior Living Care with her husband of 71 years by her side.

Irma was born on July 11, 1936 in Gonzales, Louisiana, the eldest child of the late Mervin Paul, Sr. and Sallie Sharp Bourque.

Mrs. Duplessis is survived by her husband, Bernard; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and “Tony” Smith; grandchildren Mark Jr., Mitchell (Hannah) and Maria Smith; and great grandchildren, Adam and Isabel Smith.

Irma was preceded in death by son Orville “Wayne” Duplessis and her brother Ronald Bourque (Butch), and survived by her sisters “Gerry” Kling (the late Carlyn), Barbara Daigle (the late Gayle), and her brothers Mervin, Jr. (the late Jackie) and Tommy Bourque (Linda); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 9:30 AM – 10:20 AM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia, followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:30 AM, and an interment at Panorama Memorial Gardens, 4917 Strasburg Road, Front Royal, Virginia immediately following.
