Mary Pritchett Smith, 84, loving wife and mother, of Front Royal, VA, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Danny Clegg. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born April 10, 1931 in Flint Hill, VA daughter of the late Ernest Pritchett, Sr. and Nellie Susan Lillard Pritchett. She was a faithful member of Front Royal Baptist Temple. Mrs. Smith was an avid bowler, and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and friends.

Surviving are her husband James Edward Smith of Front Royal; one daughter Vickie Elaine Smedley of Edinburg, VA; five sisters Edna Scott of Huntly, Doris Dawson , Joyce Parsons and Shirley Williams all of Front Royal, and Janet Lafferty of Stanley; one half-sister Sandra Stocklinski of Front Royal; two grandchildren Larry Douglas Travis of Dansville, NY and Michelle Elizabeth Houghtaling of Winchester; two great-grandchildren Douglas Charles Travis and Tyler Alexander Travis; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her son Cpl. Larry E. Smedley, USMC; two brothers Ernest Pritchett, Jr. and Robert Pritchett; and a half sister Edna Whitworth.

Pallbearers will be Richard Williams, Ed Rutze, Douglas Travis, Eddie Whitworth, Mark Smoot, and Jack Clegg.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Parsons and Kim Stocklinski.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 12, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
