Doris V. Dawson, 89, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Dawson was born August 18, 1935 in Rappahannock County, Virginia, daughter of the late Ernest Lewis Pritchett, Sr. and Nellie Susan Lillard Pritchett.
She was married to the late Albert Angus Dawson, Sr.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Surviving are five children, Jo Ann Weidling (Paul) of Strasburg, and Albert A. Dawson Jr. (Joyce), Karen Sibert (Ray), Doug Dawson and Shana Smoot (Mark), all of Front Royal; two sisters, Joyce Parson (Paul) of Front Royal and Janet Lafferty of Stanley; 10 grandchildren, Chris Weidling (Kristin) of Strasburg, Jessica Weidling of Strasburg, Chad Dawson of Front Royal, Brandon Dawson (Christina) of Front Royal, Matthew Dawson (Brittany) of Gainesville, Catherine Dawson of Stephens City, Zachary Sibert (Lindey) of Berryville, Rachel Sibert of Front Royal, Mackenzie Jankauskas (Wyatt) of Warrenton and special little buddy and best friend, Allison Smoot of Front Royal; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Travis Sibert; three sisters, Mary Smith, Edna Scott and Shirley Williams; and two brothers, Ernest (Buddy) Pritchett and Robert Pritchett.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Dawson, Jacob Dick, Chris Weidling, Matt Dawson, Wyatt Jankauskas and Matt Calvert.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
